Well. I'm in love. I've known about these guys for a while but never given them a proper listen. Now I can safely say they're one of my favourite producers of 2009!

I'm talking about the fantastically named, Frogs in Socks. For me, they take deep and percussive techno and tech house to a whole new level. Their bootlegs are off the chain, the choice of samples is fantastic, the production is top grade... i've never enjoyed or bopped to tech so much! It's music for the club, that doesn't discriminate, that's thoughtful and interesting and hardly ever repeats or grates on itself. It all ends up becoming a wonderful symphony of both aggressive grit and subtle warmth in the low end and glitchy samples and quirky sounds in the high end, all rolled up inside a rolling wave of cultural percussion and varied influences.

If it hasn't become clear already, I can't suck up to these boys enough. And it's not just me saying it! Frogs in Socks recently won the iDJ Mix Competition and Chew the Fat! DJ Competition with one of the best mixes I've heard in a LONG time. They've also been raped regularly by Radio 1 DJ's, played at this year's Snowbombing Festival and are a firm favourite of one of my other top producers, Solo.

Without further adieu, and before I do actually start to wet myself, here's a taster of Frogs in Socks:

Slumfrog Millionaires (iDJ & Chew the Fat! Winning Mix) - Frogs in Socks

We are The People (Frogs in Socks Remix) - Empire of The Sun

Tasty bass

Been doing the rounds, and found this lovely little garage/bassline track from Nottingham producer Nay Nay, off of his new "Classic 4 Track EP" release:

Twinkle (feat. Spyda) - Nay Nay

I highly recommend the whole release, got some good collaborations with T2 (of 'Heartbroken' fame), Spyda, Tombstone and Flex which are all reminiscent of that clubby bassline sound that was big a few years ago, but with a more interesting twist, and some unique sounds.

The whole release is available from Juno, be sure to check it out!

Also, as a bonus, here's one of Derelict's tracks off his Streetfighter EP. Proper midrange, crunchy, filthy dubstep that doesnt over do it! Again, be sure to get the whole release from Juno!

Jesus Fuck - Derelict

You aint a Joker you're a Clown...

Was a mate of mine's retort to the young Joker when he was acting like a bit of a tit outside some nightclub in Bristol sometime… the details escape me. You can forgive the lad though, such a mercurial talent and barely out of Nappies. He's part of the Bristol purple wow crew that’s putting out so much lovely synth lead dubstep at the moment, anyone wanting to catch him can do so May 30th @ Lakota - for Rewind - the Neil Kymatik tribute. Here's an unreleased track that’s been doing the rounds

Eine kleine blog bitte.

Welcome to Dangerwank!

A brutal new blog, fresh from the minds of Audio Discharge and Unhinged DJs, Rory Power and KAISER, bringing you everything that's hot in the grimy world of underground bass and electronic music.

To kick start things off in a big way, we've got some tasty treats from The Squire of Gothos. Big, fun and fucked up wonky warriors hailing from the Steel City of Sheffield.

Here's how they describe themselves...

"Trelane AKA The Lonely Squire Of Gothos is perhaps the most elite being in all the galaxy. He's a well dressed ladies man who has skills on the harpsicord and likes to play little dissapearing acts. He runs ting on the stormy planet of Gothos. Fuck with him and you'll know about it!
The Squire of Gothos is also two badbwoy producers from Sheffield who create possibly the most elite riddims known to mankind. TSOG is a cross between Speed garage, Dubstep, electro house, grime and old school hardcore. Fuck with these nasty mesters and you'll be in for a big shitty surprise. Totally Pissing on NME style trendy dance music, Time to take a sniff of ket,sip some diamond white, replace the neon clothing with some medieval style gear and dance like some kind of gabba nazi!"

They've currently got a 4 track EP entitled "Rave Lord" out on Electrostimulation which is highly recommended!

Be sure to check these guys out when they head on down to Timbuk2 in Bristol for Audio Discharge on the 4th of June. Definitely not one to be missed!
